Position Summary
The Shop Technician / Ranch Maintenance Technician supports the BV Production Facility by performing maintenance, repair, fabrication, and installation of equipment and infrastructure. This position also assists with comprehensive ranch operations and maintenance across a 550-acre ranch. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, versatility, and the ability to perform a wide range of duties in both shop and outdoor environments year-round.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain and repair existing production and shop equipment.
- Fabricate, install, and modify new equipment as required to support operations.
- Perform general shop maintenance and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Operate a wide range of power tools, including skill saws, chop saws, jig saws, angle grinders, heat guns, rivet guns, reciprocating saws (Sawzall), sanders, chainsaws, and weed eaters.
- Operate and maintain shop machinery, including mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws, MIG welders, aluminum welders, cutting torches, brake presses, and shears.
- Work with various materials, including wood, steel, aluminum, and polycarbonate.
Perform basic electrical installation, diagnostics, and repairs, including:
- AC systems (120V / 220V)
- DC low-voltage systems
- Motors, converters, and relays
- Operate and maintain ranch and wheeled equipment, including dump trucks, tractors, backhoes, pickup trucks, spreaders, and ATVs/quads.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on all assigned equipment.
- Support ranch operation and maintenance activities, including irrigation ditch maintenance, field irrigation, discing, mowing, levee construction and repair, and fence installation and repair.
- Perform tree and debris cleanup using chainsaws.
- Relocate wheel lines and support irrigation systems as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position prepares, packages, and ships live animal products and biological control agents according to strict quality standards. The role ensures timely and accurate shipments while maintaining cold-room inventory and supporting warehouse operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare domestic and international shipments according to SOPs and regulations.
· Ship packages through USPS, UPS, and FedEx systems, closing and importing manifests.
· Build specialty shipping boxes for international and special orders.
· Package live insect and biological products to maintain temperature and quality.
· Prepare and ship products such as Lacewing, Trichogramma, Mites, and others.
· Maintain packaging manuals and update protocols as needed.
· Organize and rotate cold-room inventory and maintain accurate counts.
· Assist with in-house product preparation such as larval bottles and cards.
· Operate forklifts and unload stock deliveries when needed.
· Support other shipping stations and departments as required.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization in warehouse areas.
· Dispose of expired materials according to SOPs.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with live organisms, and committed to contributing to sustainable agriculture practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the propagation and rearing of beneficial insects and mites according to company protocols
- Monitor insect life cycles, growth stages, and environmental conditions to ensure healthy production
- Perform tasks such as feeding, harvesting, sorting, and transferring live insects with precision and care
- Prepare, package, and label live insect shipments for customer delivery in accordance with quality and safety standards
- Record production data accurately, including batch numbers, quantities, and developmental observations
- Conduct routine cleaning and sanitization of production areas, equipment, and workstations to prevent contamination
- Follow biosecurity and safety protocols strictly, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicate any anomalies in insect behavior, health, or facility conditions to supervisors promptly
