Universal Release Boxes (URBs)
These are just boxes and contain no insects, mites, or other biological control agents.
Universal Release Boxes (URBs) are for distributing other organisms not sold in sachets without over-the-top applications. Ideal for flowering crops to keep buds free from debris. Hang low inside the canopy like a sachet for best results.
The advantage to using a URB over just broadcasting over the top of the crop is that the URB can be below the canopy, decreasing the environmental exposure the organisms are undergoing on the leaf surface. You do not lose predator eggs and chosen carriers that could be blown or brushed down to the soil surface.
Universal Release Boxes are versatile and usable in almost any crop that can physically support them.
Typically, you would want a crop height of about 1.5ft before the plant can support them.
Universal Release Boxes work GREAT in flowering medicinal cannabis because growers can put bulk releases of predatory mites in the URBs and not worry about the carrier getting stuck to the flowering sites.

Universal Release Boxes (URBs) are commonly used in crops that cannot tolerate a lot of carrier buildup (bran, vermiculite, rice hulls, or buckwheat).Ā
These are typically crops having an excess of resin, where the carrier of the organism will get stuck to the foliage or flower of the crop.Ā
URBs are especially useful where crop bulk releases are needed because current pest pressure dictates it.
Store in a cool dry place.
The hook atop the URB allows growers to attach the URB to a stalk and allows different predators to run up into the canopy’s targeted parts.
One disadvantage with URBs is that your plants must be large enough to support the box. Fortunately, this is around the exact plant size that would be able to support a sachet. URBs are a tool to deliver bulk organisms to a crop that cannot tolerate the build-up of carriers.
